2019 Volkswagen Golf GTI Named Hatchback of the Year
If you are looking for a car that is both exciting to drive and practical, a hatchback can be a great choice, especially if you choose something like the 2019 Volkswagen Golf GTI. It recently earned the Hatchback of the Year award from Popular Mechanics.
This is the second year in a row the Golf GTI has taken home this honor. It was praised for its technological advancements and for being a “reference point” for other models in the segment.
“Awards like this validate the consistency of the Golf GTI in delivering unmatched quality and performance at a competitive price point,” said Scott Keogh, President and CEO, Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
All of its models including the S, SE, Autobahn, and GTI Rabbit Edition, come with a 228-horsepower engine, which is a gain of 8 horsepower over last year’s model. In addition, Golf R brakes and a limited-slip differential come standard on all trims. This impressive hatchback also comes with the People First Warranty, a Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty that lasts for up to six years or 72,000 miles.
Another upgrade for 2019 is further availability of advanced driver safety aids. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking are now available as part of the Driver Assistance package on the base trim.
