The Volkswagen Get Involved Summer of Service: Combating Hunger
Volkswagen employees across the country came together in July to pack over 35,000 meals for children in need. Hundreds of volunteers worked together with the Generosity Feeds program to pack meals that support local schools and food pantries.
As part of the 2018 VWGoA Get Involved Summer of Service initiative, VW is helping to give back to the communities it’s involved with.
According to VW, there were more than seven times the number of meals packed this year than last year. Roughly 13 million children in the US struggle with hunger, which is about one in every six children.
In addition to malnourishment, hunger can make it difficult for students to concentrate in school, to have energy for activities, and more.
“The meals that our employees pack with Generosity Feeds are distributed to local schools and food pantries, supporting families in the immediate areas,” Williams said. “The local impact is incredibly rewarding, and the opportunity to engage so many of our VWGoA locations together for such a great cause further exemplifies our employees’ dedication for giving back to those in the communities where they live and work.”
The Get Involved Summer of Service initiative is a way for VW employees to participate in a four-month annual program. The initiative encourages employees to give back to the communities in which they work and live.
Here at Hiley Volkswagen of Arlington, we’re proud to represent such a community-conscious brand.
