The Best Scenic Drives Near Dallas-Fort Worth
Spring is finally here, and in addition to longer days, spring cleaning, and the start of baseball season, spring is also the perfect time to explore the beauty of the Lone Star State by going for a scenic drive in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. If you’re not sure where to start, check out these routes and enjoy the sunshine on the open road.
U.S. Route 67
Route 67 might not seem particularly scenic near the Dallas-Fort Worth area, but if you continue south past Cedar Hill, you’ll find amazing views as far as the eye can see. If you keep going, you’ll pass through quite a few charming small towns, including Midlothian, Alvarado, and Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose.
Red River Roadway
Meandering along the Red River in the North Texas Hill Country, the Red River Roadway is a must-see for anyone looking for a beautiful drive in Texas. At around 130 miles, this is a great route if you’re looking for a stunning day trip out of the city.
East Texas on Interstate 20
If you hop right onto Interstate 20 and head east, you’ll pass through plenty of beautifully quaint small towns and enjoy scenic surroundings the whole way. You can drive for two hours on Interstate 20, or you can get off in Canton to extend the trip with a stay at a great campground nearby.
